Cookies! Free at the Doubletree Alana Hotel on Halloween
Have you had the Doubletree cookie?
I have a friend through the UCLA Bruin Club of Hawaii (Go Bruins!) who used to be the front office manager at the Doubletree Alana Hotel who was the hook up for these amazing cookies. We'd have our annual scholarship interviews there and in they came, warm and in their own sleeve. Melty chocolate, savory walnuts, crisp on the edge but impeccably soft at the center. (My friend now works at another Waikiki property that is, sad to say, cookieless.)
They're free to guests of the Doubletree, but every so often they make them available to the public. Happy Halloween, everyone! Swing by the Doubletree this Sunday between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. for a taste of this heaven, while supplies last. Late-night Halloween revelers in Waikiki on Saturday should not miss it. You can also drive up for cookie pick-up.
The journey of a Doubletree cookie hunter in Maryland happily ends well:
Doubletree cookie 'tid-bites'
Doubletree gives out approximately 30,000 chocolate chip cookies each day –– more than 10.5 million each year.
Doubletree
began giving out chocolate chip cookies in the early 1980s, when many
hotels across the country used them as treats for VIPs.
In
1995, Doubletree enlisted the services of Nashville, Tenn.-based
Christie Cookie Company to hold the brand’s secret recipe, which ensures
that the same, delicious cookie is delivered consistently at every
Doubletree hotel and resort.
Every Doubletree chocolate chip cookie is baked fresh daily at each hotel.
Each cookie weighs more than 2 ounces and has an average of 20 chocolate chips.
The Christie Cookie Company uses more than 580,000 pounds of chocolate chips each year for Doubletree’s cookies.
To date, more than 200 million cookies have been served to delighted guests and customers.
More
than 1 million chocolate chip cookies have been donated by Doubletree
hotels to celebrate and thank deserving members of the community from
doctors and nurses to police and firefighters as well as non-profit
groups such as orphanages, food banks and homeless shelters.
From
the United Kingdom to Canada and Italy to China, the signature
chocolate chip cookie welcome is now being presented to travelers at
Doubletree by Hilton hotel locations around the world.
